Before you worry about it
You do not need to be a long-standing member, and you do not need to be able to teach, sing or speak in public. Most of what keeps a church running is quiet work done by ordinary people: setting up, welcoming, driving someone home, sitting with the children, checking who was not in their seat.
Tell us roughly when you are free and what you are drawn to. The department leader will get in touch and talk it through with you before anything is agreed.
