Choirs, the praise team, instrumentalists and soloists lead the congregation at Divine Worship, and the music evening carries it beyond the Sabbath.
Music at Portmore
The music of Portmore is carried by the choirs, the praise team, the instrumentalists and the soloists of the congregation. They lead at Divine Worship each Sabbath and at the special programmes held through the year.
“Reason Why I Sing” is the church’s music evening, held on alternate Fridays at 8:00 p.m. as the Sabbath comes in.
Musicians and singers who have recently joined the congregation, or who would like to serve, are invited to speak with the music department. Ability is welcome; willingness is the requirement.
What this department is for
That the music serves the service rather than performs alongside it.
That what is offered in the sanctuary is prepared, not improvised.
That hymnody, gospel and the psalms all have a place here.
That young musicians are trained by older ones rather than left to find their own way.
