Pastor Francis West serves as senior pastor of Portmore Seventh-day Adventist Church and of the surrounding district of congregations in St. Catherine.
The pastor of a Seventh-day Adventist district carries the preaching and teaching ministry of each congregation in it, together with baptism, marriage, bereavement and visitation, and the oversight of the church board.
At Portmore that work is shared with a board of elders and with departmental leaders appointed from the membership, which is how a congregation of this size is able to run the number of services it does each week.

The pastoral team and the officers
The pastor works alongside a board of elders, with deacons and deaconesses elected from the membership at the church business session.
Departmental leaders are appointed from the congregation and carry the week-to-week work of Sabbath School, the AY Society, the children’s divisions, music, prayer and Women’s Ministries.

Visiting the church
Parking is available on the church grounds off Port Henderson Road. Members of the diaconate are stationed at the entrances before each service and will assist anyone attending for the first time in finding a seat. No registration is required.
